PROVINCES,(ST)_Remarkable progress has been recorded by the armed forces in tracking down foreign-backed terrorists outside Damascus, Hama, Aleppo, Daraa and Idlib provinces.

According to an official source, the armed forces eliminated today at least 40 terrorists in an area located between Ma’aloula town and al-Sarkha town and foiled terrorists’ attempt to detonate five explosive devices planted in al-Orobeh Street on Der Ateyeh-alNabk road outside Damascus.

They also hammered 19 terrorists in al-Dereyeh quarter and al-Shohada’a Square in Doma city.

More terrorists were reportedly killed in Jobar suburb, to the north-east of Damascus and in Hajjira and Babbela areas, to the south of Damascus.

On the other hand, the armed forces scored a remarkable progress in Shebaa town after destroying several weapons-laden cars and a bomb-making factory, to the east of the town -precisely in al-Bayyada town.

An arms depot and a quantity of weapons including an Anti-Aircraft Gun (AAG) were wiped out in  tailored strikes launched in al-Hseneyeh, al-Dyabeyeh and Beit Sahm areas outside the  capital [Damascus], according to the official news agency (SANA).

In Hama

Further progress was achieved in Hama countryside where the armed forces restored stability and security to seven areas- towns of alHamra, alRahyeh, alLala, the southern Rabe’a, alAfif and al-Rahyeh citadel, as well as Tal al-Dhalel- to the east of Hama.

A military source declared that a host of al-Nusra Front-affiliates were crushed, several booby-traps were defused, a quantity of weapons and walkie-talkies were confiscated in the said areas.

It added that an army unit warded off an attack on a checkpoint near Morek town in the same province (Hama).

In Idlib

In another development, the armed forces thwarted terrorists’ bid to sneak into Abo Dohur airbase- in Idlib province- from the southern and eastern sides and bombarded four cars loaded with weapons and ammunitions.

They, in addition eliminated 10 terrorists on Ma’arret al-Noaman and Kafr Roma areas in the same province, according to a military source.

More terrorists perished when the armed forces carried out operations in the towns of Ma’er Shamsheh, Bennesh, al-Shabebeh, Ma’arretmesrin, Sermin and Ma’arret al-Noaman.

In Aleppo

Meanwhile, it was said that the armed forces clashed with terrorists trying to attack the old  Immigration building and mowed down an armed terrorist group on the outskirt of Khan al-Wazir in the old city of Aleppo.

Other achievements were scored as the armed forces repelled terrorists’ bid to blast a car bomb parked in a street called ‘3000’ linking al-Assad suburb to Aleppo city and destroyed another  car loaded with big quantity of explosives before entering Bosra al-Sham in Daraa Province.

These developments coincided with destroying an unknown number of weapons-laden cars coming from Turkey for the terrorists in seven areas outside Aleppo province.

“Several armed terrorist groups were eliminated in an ambush in Haddadin town in the eastern countryside”, a military source said, citing that large numbers of terrorists were killed in towns of al-Jadedeh, Kweris, Rasm al-Abbod and Erbid outside Aleppo.

In Daraa

To the southern direction of the country, in Daraa province, a military source announced names of 9 terrorists killed in 9 towns – Tafas, M’zereb, Da’el, Inkhel, Sheikh Meskin, N’jeh, Tsil, Ezra’a, and Sheikh Sa’ed.

It pointed out that an army unit foiled terrorists’ attempt to detonate a booby-trap planted inside a water resevoir in Kh’bab town.

Turkish- made bomb making materials

However, in Palmyra’s southern and eastern farms, competent authorities found many explosive devices, and Turkish-made bomb making materials.

An official source made it clear that the materials contain ammonium nitrate, chemical fertilizer, and roughly 1ton of gunpowder.

Elsewhere, the armed forces raided terrorists’ hideouts and groupings in 8 areas in Homs province and 4 areas in al-Hassaka province.

The death toll of terrorists in the said areas was not reported.

In a separate incident, the armed terrorist groups fired rockets at the towns of Abo al-Alaya, al-Ma’sodeyeh, and Jeb al-Jrah. No casualties  reported.
