Russia calls on the United States to withdraw its nuclear weapons from other countries

Moscow, (ST)   – On Tuesday, the Russian Foreign Ministry called on the United States to withdraw its nuclear weapons from other countries.

“The nuclear weapons of the United States must be transferred to its territory,” Igor Vishnevitsky, Deputy Director of the Ministry’s Non-Proliferation and Arms Control Department, was quoted as saying during the Review Conference on the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. He referred that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) declares itself a blatant nuclear alliance and that US nuclear weapons are on the territory of non-nuclear countries and are training to use them.

Vishnevitsky stressed that this is a factor that negatively affects security and increases the risks of a nuclear conflict and impedes nuclear disarmament. He added that, the Okos alliance of the United States, Britain and Australia is laying the groundwork for launching a new episode of the arms race in the Asia-Pacific region.
