Putin meets Erdogan in Sochi, stresses the importance of preserving Syria’s territorial integrity

Russian President Vladimir Putin has stressed the importance of preserving Syria’s unity and territorial integrity.

A joint statement, adopted by President Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyib Erdogan after their meeting in Sochi on Friday, said “among the topics discussed by the two sides were the recent developments in Syria. The sides reiterated that they attach greater significance to the efforts to promote the political process. They stressed the importance of preserving Syria’s political unity and territorial integrity.”

The statement reiterated the two sides’ “commitment to act together and in close coordination to fight against all terrorist organizations.”

It is to be noted that the Turkish regime has deployed occupation forces in several parts of Syria and it is one of major supporters of terrorist organizations in the country.
