Receiving applications for candidacy for local council elections starts today

Damascus (ST): In implementation of the provisions of Decree No. 216 for the year 2022, which set the date for the local council elections on September 18, the process of submitting applications for candidacy for the presidency of local councils (governorates, cities, towns, municipalities) begins from today, Friday, August 5, and continues until the end of official working hours on Thursday, corresponding to August 11, 2022.

In a statement to news reporter, the Director of Councils and Local Development in the Ministry of Local Administration and Environment, Eng. Iyad Al-Shama’a, confirmed that the sub-judicial committees formed in the governorates are ready to receive the applications of candidates after all the necessary supplies and equipment have been secured for the success of this entitlement.

Al-Shama’a indicated that the person wishing to run must submit a written request to the judicial subcommittees formed for this purpose according to each region and in accordance with the number of judicial committees.
