Vershinin, Pedersen discuss ways to promote political settlement process in Syria

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin discussed with the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Syria Geir Pedersen tge ways to promote the political settlement of the crisis in Syria with adherence to its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.

TASS news agency quoted the Russian Foreign Ministry as saying in a statement, “Vershinin and Pedersen discussed in a phone conversation on Wednesday the situation in Syria and stressed the importance of making more efforts to strengthen the political settlement process implemented by the Syrians with the facilitation of the United Nations. They underlined the strict adherence to the principle of respect for Syria’s sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity as stipulated in UN Security Council Resolution 2254.”
