ACSAD and the Arab Agricultural Forum discuss cooperation relations and ways to develop them

The Director-General of the Arab Center for Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands, Dr. Nasr El-Din El-Obeid, discussed with the Director of the Arab Agricultural Forum, Eng. Awni El-Kloub, the cooperation relations between the two sides and ways to develop and strengthen them in various fields.
During the meeting, which was held at ACSAD headquarters, Dr. El-Obeid spoke about the organization’s plans and programs to support the efforts of Arab countries in achieving sustainable Arab development in a way that meets the aspirations of these countries in achieving water and food security for them by limiting severe climate changes, drought and lack of agricultural production, especially the issue of wheat.
El-Obeid pointed out that ACSAD is focusing today on ground and surface water and the water harvesting project to provide them in order to promote the agricultural sector and raise the efficiency of irrigation.
For his part, Eng. El-Kloub praised ACSAD’s efforts to achieve Arab food and water security and the level it has achieved in its scientific and practical performance in the recent period, especially in light of severe climatic changes and water scarcity.
El-Kloub pointed out the importance of cooperation between ACSAD and the Forum in order to find an Arab platform to deal with the issues and challenges facing the agricultural sector and Arab food security, including climate change and the Russian-Ukrainian war that cast a shadow on the Arab food situation.
During the meeting, ACSAD activities in the Arab countries were presented in the field of water resources, groundwater modeling, the project of climate change studies, training courses and scientific conferences implemented by the center, in addition to the meeting points in the work and objectives with the Arab Agricultural Forum.
