An exhibition of Omani archaeological and heritage artifacts opened at the National Museum of Aleppo

Aleppo (ST): An exhibition of archaeological and heritage artifacts from the Sultanate of Oman, entitled “Lights on Oman,” was opened today at the National Museum of Aleppo.

The exhibition included a number of stone, copper and bronze artifacts, traditional dresses and costumes that characterize the Omani regions and refer to the eras and civilizations that followed the discovered region in addition to the women’s adornment such as jewelry, bracelets and ancient necklaces showing the ingenuity of silver handicrafts, paintings of the arts of writing in Arabic calligraphy, decorations and frankincense tree products and incense.

In a speech during the opening, Minister of Culture Dr. Lubana Mushawah indicated the importance of the exhibition and the archaeological finds and their cultural value, which dates back to ancient historical periods and progressed from ancient to modern times, accompanied by the display of paintings and pictures of some archaeological sites registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Mushawah said: The displayed artifacts show the close relationship between the civilizations that followed in Syria and on the Omani land and the great link between the two brotherly peoples culturally, historically and economically, noting that they had previously been displayed in the Damascus Museum for a period of six months
