President Al-Assad awards China’s Ambassador in Damascus the Syrian Order of Merit of the Excellent degree
DAMASCUS, Jul.27, (ST)- President Al-Assad has awarded the ambassador Feng Biao the Syrian the Order of Merit of the Excellent degree in recognition of his efforts to develop and enhance the Syrian-Chinese relations and in recognition of his dedication to perform his duties as his country’s ambassador to Syria.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Minister Faisal Al-Miqdad, who awarded the ambassador the order of Merit at a Farwell ceremony said: “President Bashar Al-Assad decided to offer the Chinese ambassador this order of Merit in recognition of his efforts to enhance relations between Syria and China.”
Al-Miqdad hailed the important role played by the ambassador in the light of the difficult conditions to which Syria has been exposed in order to boost different aspects of Syrian-Chinese relations, describing these relations as strategic, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
He added that the world today is engulfed by dangers from all sides, which necessitates cooperation between all forces of good to maintain peace and stability, noting that China is one of the countries that has contributed and is still contributing to maintaining international peace and security and continues to do so through its stances in the United Nations based on the its basic charter.
The minister also praised China’s standing by Syria and the peoples of Asia, Africa, Latin America and developing countries and the right of these peoples to self-determination and preserving their sovereignty, referring to the fact that the growth and development of Syrian-Chinese relations is the fruit of the efforts of many generations in the two friendly countries.
For his part, the ambassador showed his gratitude to President Bashar Al-Assad for honoring him by granting him this medal, expressing his thanks also to the Syrian people and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates for their cooperation with him to complete his duties as ambassador to his country.
He pointed out that he had witnessed, during his years of diplomatic work in Syria, the brave Syrian people and army confronting terrorism in the war waged against Syria, stressing that Syria is his second homeland.
The ambassador talked in brief about the stages of development of the Chinese-Syrian relations over the past years, mainly Syria’s accession to the “Belt and Road” initiative and the convening of the meetings of the Sino-Syrian Joint Higher Committee after a 12-year hiatus, expressing his pride in the friendship and love relations that unite the two friendly countries, which are getting stronger day by day.
