Arab writers discuss future plans to confront normalization with Israeli entity 

DAMASCUS, Jul.27, (ST)- Future plans to confront normalization with the Israeli entity and to promote joint Arab action are the most important topics that were discussed today during the meeting of the General Secretariat of Arab Writers in Damascus.

Secretary-General of Arab writers Alaa Abdel Hadi, said that the meeting being held at “Al-Sham” Hotel is important as it renews the support for Syria in its war against terrorism and its defense of its sovereignty, land, freedom of decision and independence, stressing at the same time the importance of the meeting in terms of strengthening Arab solidarity and confronting normalization with the Israeli occupation .

For his part, the head of the Arab Writers Union in Syria Muhammad Al-Hourani clarified hat the conference’s agenda includes discussing issues related to coordination and cooperation with other unions, the elections to be held next year, the election of the Deputy Secretary-General, cultural plans in the light of the great challenges such as the danger of normalization with the Israeli occupation, and defending the Palestinian cause.

The Deputy Secretary-General and President of the Omani Society of Writers Saeed Al-Saqlawi said that the meeting contributes to strengthening cooperation and activating common denominators between the Arab countries, pointing out to his country’s firm stance towards Syria and its support for other national and Arab issues.

Vice-President of the Iraqi Writers Union Najeh Al-Maamouri declared that this meeting is a form of cultural support for Syria, pointing to the deep-rooted historical and ancient relationship between the two countries.

He indicated that the participation of Iraqi writers in the meeting shows their standing by Syria.

12 Arab countries are taking part in the meeting that kicked off yesterday.
