Bastrykin calls for including Syria, Iran and Bolivia in the work to form UN-sponsored international tribunal
Chairman of the Russian Federation’s Investigative Committee Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin has called for including Syria, Iran and Bolivia in the work to form UN-sponsored international court.
In an interview with Russia’s Rossiiskaya Gazeta daily published on Monday, Bastrykin said that “it is advisable to include other countries that have independent stances on the Ukrainian issue based on the international law, particularly Syria, Iran and Bolivia, in the work to form an international tribunal.”
He clarified that the establishment of such a tribunal under the auspices of the UN in the current perspective is extremely doubtful. It would be more appropriate to work out this issue with Russian partners in such organizations as the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Organization of Collective Security Treaty (CSTO), the BRICS Organization and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
According to him, the creation of the court and its statute would be formalized by an agreement between the Russian Federation and the countries that are part of these organizations, as well as Donetsk People’s Republic and Lugansk People’s Republic.
