11 artists take part in the 2nd annual exhibition of “The House of Arabic Calligraphy and Arts Association” in Damascus

The 2nd Annual Exhibition for the artists of the Association was opened on Tuesday, at the People’s Hall for Fine Arts in Damascus.

The exhibition, which will last until the 28th of this month, display 44 painting for 11 artists depicting various themes about nature, portrait, calligraphy, and sculpture, which are related to different artistic schools and techniques .

Artist Reem Qabtan, the organizer of the exhibition told Syria times(E-news paper): “This exhibition is first event of the annual festival of the “Arab House Association for Calligraphy and Fine Arts”. It is being held under the auspices of the Union of Fine Artists for the members of the association.

She indicated that the second event within the festival will be next month, August, and it will include an exhibition for young artists.
“The aim of holding this exhibition is to display our works and to provide an opportunity for artists to display their works especially artists who couldn’t hold individual exhibitions” Qabtan added .

She shows in the exhibition several paintings that depict women in various cases, using calligraphy, Sufi writings and poems that serve these paintings.

Artist Seham Mhesin, displays five portraits depicting humans feelings such as frustrations, sadness, despair, and joy.

“I use oil colors and focus on dark colors like the blue to express my inner ideas and I paint the female because she can express her feelings more than man,” she said.

Another participant, Wansa Abed, displays five paintings depicting nature and portrait.
For his part Artist Alaa Al- Ghabra, shows mosaic paintings, drawings and Arabic calligraphy,

“I used in my mosaic paintings natural materials including wood, mother-of-pearl and resin to depict old Damascene neighborhoods which I like,” Alaa said.

Areej Samoul, displays one painting that depicts the beauty of nature in the countryside of the coastal city of Banias.
