Al-Mikdad discusses with Iranian Vice President bilateral economic relations and ways to enhance them

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Al-Mikdad, discussed with Iranian First Vice President Muhammad Mokhber the bilateral relations between Syria and Iran and the ways to enhance them for the interests of the two friendly countries and people.

During the meeting held in Tehran today, Mokhber affirmed his country’s desire to deepen these relations, especially the economic ones, to rise to the level of political relations between the two countries. He pointed out that President Bashar Al-Assad’s visit to Tehran recently constituted a starting point and a work program to advance and strengthen economic relations between Syria and Iran.

In turn, Minister Al-Mikdad thanked Iran for standing by Syria in the circumstances it is going through, stressing the Syrian government’s keenness to improve relations between the two countries.

Al-Mikdad affirmed Syria’s full support for Iran in all the measures it has taken and is taking to lift the illegal US sanctions imposed on it and revive the nuclear agreement in a way that guarantees its people’s interests and rights in the nuclear field and all other fields, blaming the US administration for obstructing the agreement.

The meeting was attended by the Syrian Ambassador in Tehran, Dr. Shafik Daiop, Minister Plenipotentiary Dr. Muhammad Tawfiq Abu Ghalloun, Minister Plenipotentiary Khaled Sharaf. From the Iranian side, Kazem Qomi, Advisor to the First Vice President, Muhammad Fati, Director of the Office of the First Vice President, and Muhammad Hussein Fadli, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department attended the meeting.
