Implementation of a solar energy project to pump water in Salamiyeh countryside

The Public Corporation for Drinking Water in Hama Governorate implemented an alternative solar energy project on the water pumping center of the town of Berri Sharqi in the eastern Salamiyeh countryside.
This project was implemented in cooperation with the Aga Khan Urban Development Corporation and in partnership between the Berri Sharqi Municipal Council and the townspeople.
The director of the water unit in Salamiyeh city stated that the solar energy project feeds the town’s water pumping center with electricity at a capacity of 60 kilovolts to ensure the pumping of water during the electrical rationing and reduce the suffering of the people in obtaining drinking water due to the lack of fuel.
The mayor of Berri Sharqi stressed the importance of the project in alleviating the burdens on the people who were forced to buy water from tanks at high prices, in addition to the fact that the network’s water is healthy and safe to drink, according to the results of samples taken, which indicates the importance of this alternative energy project as an environmentally friendly and economical one.
A resident of the town, noted the positive effects and repercussions of the project on the people and its role in alleviating the suffering of securing water.
