Marketing more than 48 thousand tons of wheat crop in Homs

On July 17th, the quantities of wheat marketed to the grain delivery centers in the governorate of Homs amounted to 48,291 tons, of which 44,716 tons were delivered to grain silos and the rest to the seed branch.

The Director of Homs Agriculture, Younis Hamdan, stated that the harvesting operations are nearing completion, and so far 13,280 hectares of rainfed areas planted wheat and 13,452 hectares of irrigated wheat have been harvested.

He added that 3448 hectares of areas planted with rainfed barley and 469 irrigated hectares have been harvested.

He indicated that 219 hectares of cultivated area were harvested with lentils, 6 hectares with irrigated chickpeas, and 1511 hectares with rain-fed chickpeas.

The Directorate of Agriculture had estimated the governorate’s production of wheat for the current agricultural season at 69 thousand tons.
