Syrian Family Planning Association’s branch in Tartous expands its works

TARTOUS, Jul.12, (ST)- The branch of the Syrian Family Planning Association in Tartous works on providing various services to the family in terms of health, psychological and social aspects through a number of programs it implements and its clinics, teams and medical points there.

The local coordinator of the association’s branch in Tartous, Zakaria Ali, said in a statement  to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) that the association was launched in 2014 through a mobile team that provided services to the people, who were displaced from their houses because of terrorism,  in the Al-Mentar area at the beginning of the years of the war on Syria.

“Later on, the association created service centers that included three clinics with  equipment that provide medical services to women and children in Dower Sheikh Saad and Ras Al-Shugry and at the association’s headquarters in Al-Faqqa,” Ali added.

He went on to say that the branch’s work has recently expanded as mobile medical teams have been formed to cover the areas of Sheikh Badr and its countryside, Al-Dreikish, Safita, Mashta Al-Helou, Baniyas, and two mobile clinics cover the Safita and Al-Drekish areas.

The association’s branch will activate the youth center at its headquarters with the aim of providing services and awareness lectures to young people aged between 18 and 25 years on topics related to violence, drugs, AIDS, diseases and others, according to the head of the branch Ahmed Abbas.

The Assistant of Social Communications in the association Dayyoub Wannous said: “The current focus is on avoiding the negative effects and psychological pressures that women face in the family, and working through awareness sessions organized by the association to make the participants familiar with their rights, especially with regard to violence and forms of communication. “
