A reception at the Embassy of Venezuela on the occasion of the anniversary of its independence

On July 6th, the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Damascus held a reception on the occasion of the 211th anniversary of its independence, at the embassy’s headquarters in Damascus.

Chargé d’Affairs of the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Syria, Joaquín Gomez, stressed in his speech that the participation of his country’s friends in this celebration is evidence of the brotherly and close friendship ties with Venezuela and its support in difficult times and important occasions.

Gomez pointed out that Syria and Venezuela are two peoples and one heart, and they are proud of their strategic friendship because they share positions of pride, courage, and permanent defense of all just causes in the world.

Gomez indicated that the embassy is working with the Venezuelan communities in Sweida, Aleppo and Tartous to implement various projects, including a project to spread and teach the Spanish language and social and cultural projects to strengthen Venezuelan-Syrian ties.

Gomez praised the victories of the Syrian government, army and people in its war against imperialist terrorism.

Gomez pointed out that Venezuela, 211 years after signing its independence is still firm and determined to confront imperialism and will remain supportive and loyal to the brotherly peoples of the world facing imperialist powers.

In a Syrian speech, the Director of the American Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Aber Al-Jarf conveyed the greetings of the Syrian leadership and people to the people of Venezuela and its leadership on the anniversary of its independence.

Al-Jarf explained that the Syrian-Venezuelan relations proved that the geographical distance is not an obstacle to rapprochement, because the ties between the two peoples are historical, rooted and continuous.

The reception was attended by the Minister of Oil, Engineer Bassam Tohme, the Minister of Electricity, Engineer Ghassan Al-Zamil, the Minister of Information, Dr. Boutros Al-Hallaq, the Deputy Speaker of the People’s Assembly, Muhammad Akram Al-Ajlani, and a number of members of the People’s Assembly and officials.
