Syrian ready-made clothing industry to continue production despite difficulties

Despite the impact of the repercussions of the war on the industrial sector, including the manufacture of ready-made garments, the  industrialists will continue to work and preserve this industry.

Muhammad Jalal al-Bunni from one of the companies of manufacturing clothing said in a statement to SANA reporter that work is continuing to meet the needs of the local market, and it depends on continuous participation in events and sales festivals with the aim of reaching the consumer directly and shortening trade circles to reduce prices by more than 30% amid keeping the high quality of products.

He pointed  out that there are difficulties facing the production process such as importing raw materials, frequent power cuts, high fuel prices, lack of skilled labor and high wages, which increases the cost of the final product.

For his part, the head of the Craft Association for Tailors, Mustafa Bakour, declared that there are difficulties in the progress of work, such as the lack of expert manpower and low wages, in addition to the lack of raw materials, since most of the cotton threads and fabrics available are imported.

Abdel-Jalil Zeidan, a member of the General Authority of the Tailors Crafts Association, stressed the importance of the role played by the association, such as securing places for craftsmen in the craft industrial areas where the elements of work such as electric power, infrastructure and marketing tools are available, which reduces production costs and leads to its increase, in addition to supporting young craftsmen through giving them financial loans with low interest rates.
