Putin in a congratulatory message to Lukashenko: Russia and Belarus will continue to strengthen alliance relations

Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed the depth of relations between Russia and Belarus and the two countries’ keenness to develop strategic partnership and alliance relations in the interest of the two countries’  brotherly people.

In a congratulatory message to his Belarusian counterpart, Alexander Lukashenko, on the occasion of the independence of the Republic of Belarus, Sputnik quoted Putin as saying: “Today, citizens of Russia and Belarus maintain and continue to strengthen ties of friendship, alliance and mutual assistance. Through the development of strategic partnership and alliance relations, the two countries overcome serious adversities and defend their interests on global arena.”

Putin expressed his confidence that through joint efforts, the two countries will continue to build constructive bilateral relations, improve the institutions of the Union state and promote integration processes in the Eurasian space, and this, of course, meets the fundamental interests of the people of the two countries.

“July 3 is an important date not only in the history of Belarus, but also in Russia. The two countries’ brotherly people who fought side by side made a decisive contribution to the victory over Nazism,” Putin added.
