President Al-Assad, Abdollahian discuss strategic relations between Syria and Iran, common challenges
President Bashar Al-Assad has stressed that the Syrian-Iranian strong relations that have been deepened over the past decades can be described today as the “alliance of will” in the confrontation of western hegemony.
The President made the remarks during a meeting on Saturday with Iran’s Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdollahian and the accompanying delegation. The two sides discussed bilateral ties, common challenges, the close cooperation between Syria and Iran and developments in Syria.
Abdollahian described President Al-Assad’s last visit to Iran as a major turning point which reflected positively on the relations between the two countries.
Abdollahian said that the Israeli repeated attacks on Syria are part of the terrorist war which aims at undermining security and stability in the country, stressing Iran’s firm support for Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and its rejection of any military action on the Syrian territory.
The talks also dealt with the Turkish regime’s anti-Syria policies and its threats of launching a new aggression on Syria.
President Al-Assad said that this regime attacks Syrian territories every time the Syrian Arab Army achieves progress in its battle against terrorist organizations. He clarified that the Turkish claims to justify launching a new aggression on Syria are void and misleading and have nothing to do with reality, plus being a blatant violation of the rules of UN Charter, the principles of the international law and good neighborhood ties.
Moreover, discussions also focused on regional and international developments.
President Al-Assad said that the war in Ukraine and the political losses inflected upon the West as a result of uncovering its lies, constitute the beginning of a new international balance that serves the interest of Syria, Iran and all countries and peoples that defend their principles, rights and independent decision.
On his part, Abdollahian briefed President Al-Assad on the results of the talks held on the sidelines of the Caspian Sea summit last week as well as on the latest developments of the current negotiations regarding Iran’s nuclear file.
