Environmental awareness activities and events at the Flower Fair

Damascus (ST): Within the activities of the Flower Fair in its 42nd session, the Environment Directorate in Damascus Governorate is implementing a series of awareness activities and events with the aim of emphasizing the importance of preserving the environment and protecting it from pollution.

In this regard, the directorate has allocated a corner within its pavilion to display products made from environmental waste through recycling such as cardboard, papers and plastic materials, a corner for handicrafts, drawing and works for children, and another for educating children about how to farm and its importance, in addition to a corner dedicated to teaching them some traditional crafts such as spinning on the loom, in addition to competitions and environmental awareness lectures, according to Engineer Hadi Sheikh Hassan Awad, Director of Environment in Damascus Governorate.

Awad pointed out that the aim of implementing these activities is to encourage children to take care of the environment and protect it, through an expanded awareness program that includes a set of activities directed to children and their families to contribute to preventing danger from nature and the environment and benefiting from waste within the recycling program.

In turn, Mervat Hajj Ali, supervisor of the Environmental Club in the Environment Directorate, indicated that work is being done to enhance awareness about environmental concepts for all pavilion-goers, especially children who spend daily long hours drawing and practicing various environmental activities, which contributes to enhancing their positive behaviors and learning new things such as making use of papers and cardboard is used to make useful things through recycling.
