Sabbagh during his meeting with the Brazilian ambassador in Damascus: The importance of strengthening parliamentary relations between the two countries

People’s Assembly Speaker Hammouda Sabbagh stressed during his meeting today with the Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil in Syria Fabio Vaz Petaluca the importance of strengthening and developing relations between the People’s Assembly and the Brazilian Senate and Representatives.

Sabbagh noted the efforts made by Ambassador Petaluca since his assignment as the Brazilian ambassador in Syria to develop various aspects of cooperation between the two friendly countries and his fruitful meetings with the Syrian-Brazilian Friendship Committee in the People’s Assembly.

The Speaker of the People’s Assembly called on Ambassador Petaluka to convey to his country the true picture of what Syria was subjected to during the terrorist war waged against it, as well as the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on it, which covered various aspects of life.

For his part, Ambassador Petaluca reiterated his country’s supportive stance for Syria in its war on terrorism, indicating that the Brazilian embassy in Damascus did not close its doors during the years of the war on Syria and continued to provide services to citizens of both friendly countries.

Ambassador Petaluka pointed to the importance of strengthening various aspects of cooperation between his country and Syria, especially in the parliamentary and cultural fields, noting the great positive role played by the Syrian community in Brazil in all sectors.

The meeting was attended by a number of members of the People’s Assembly.
