Algeria (ST): Three people were killed and others injured as a result of forest fires in the Algerian state of Setif.

The Algerian newspaper An-Nahar quoted the local authorities in the state as saying in a statement: The fires erupted in the forests and mountains of the municipality of Harbil, north of the state of Setif, where the winds and high heat helped the rapid spread of the fire in the neighboring forests of the villages of Ras Al-Fayd and Sheriqat, which caused the death of three people, including an officer. The fires also caused harm to  12 others, in addition to damaging a large area of forests and forcing residents to evacuate their homes, noting that the civil protection teams in the state and the People’s National Army were unable to put out the fire due to the high winds and heat.
