The activities of the exhibition of information and communication technology (Hitech) launched

Damascus (ST): The activities of the eighth session of the Information and Communications Technology Exhibition “HITEC”, organized by the Arab Group for Exhibitions and Conferences, in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Technology, kicked off on the fairgrounds of the exhibition city in Damascus.

The exhibition, which includes participants from 20 countries representing 180 local and international brands spread over 70 pavilions, in addition to 3 direct participations from Egypt, Jordan and Iran, is a unique opportunity that brings together companies specialized in the field of information and communications technology and visitors interested in the world of technology to exchange experiences and see the latest technologies, which helps to expand and develop the information sector in Syria.

In a statement to the media, the Minister of Communications and Technology, Eng. Iyad Al-Khatib, stressed that holding such exhibitions allows the opportunity to see the latest findings in the communications and information technology sector, as companies of multiple nationalities, including Egyptian, Emirati, Iranian and others, participate in HITEC, which allows the Ministry of Communications and Syrian companies to benefit from its experiences, especially that Syria has launched the process of digital transformation, which is not a transformation of services only, but also of thinking about the mechanism of providing services, indicating that the ministry is working to implement many projects in this field.

Minister Al-Khatib pointed out that what is distinguished in this exhibition is the development of youth capabilities, experiences and skills by giving them the opportunity to present their projects and innovations in the technical and informational fields that they have implemented in a number of public and private Syrian universities.

With regard to the cooperation program with Iran, Minister Al-Khatib referred to the facilities provided by Iranian companies to support the communications and technology sector in Syria through projects implemented by these companies and became in service, in addition to cooperation with the Iranian Ministry of Communications in a number of projects.

In turn, Eng. Alaa Helal, Director General of the Arab Group for Exhibitions and the organizer of the exhibition stated that “HITEC” represents an information forum that presents the latest and most important solutions, systems, software and applications for computers and smartphones, and aims to contribute to raising the information culture and facilitating its spread.

For his part, the Iranian ambassador in Damascus, Mahdi Sobhani, pointed out that the exhibition constitutes an opportunity to introduce the technological and digital services needed by the humanitarian community and provided by the participating companies, praising the work and quality of the Syrian companies in this field.

Sobhani said that one of the important messages of this exhibition is to confirm that there is a good ground for investment and economic activities in Syria.
