Syrian cartoonist Raed Khalil has won the third international prize at the International Festival of Humor and Satire in Italy, in which 188 cartoonists from 43 countries from around the world participated.
The theme of the festival competition, organized by the Ciftelarte Association and the municipality of Bashi, focused on “Genius, Madness and Discipline as a Creative Engine.”
Khalil’s painting embodied the complex content of Einstein’s theory of relativity in a satirical manner that made the mechanic maintain and repair the theory in a deep reference to the urgent need to develop some concepts and crystallize them in a way that keeps pace with people’s reality and gives new dimensions and opens the gates of contemplation to the world with all its theories.
Khalil made it clear that he seeks, through his critical caricatures, to cast light on social, humanitarian and national issues, as well as the positive and negative aspects of life and society worldwide.
The artist Khalil is the director of the international Syrian cartoon website. It is noteworthy that the artist Khalil was born in 1973. He is a cartoonist for the Al-Baath newspaper and the Syrian Arab TV. He participated in many international exhibitions and won a number of awards and certificates of appreciation. He is director of the Syria International Caricature Festival since its launch in 2005 up till date.
