Coercive measures imposed on Syria exacerbate the suffering of the Syrian people

The unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria have exacerbated the suffering of the Syrian people who have been facing global and systematic terrorism, the Iranian Foreign Ministry has stressed.

During a press conference on Monday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said that these tough measures imposed on the Syrian people came after Syria’s enemies failed in achieving their military goals.

He reiterated the need to preserve Syria’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.

Regarding the nuclear file, Khatibzadeh said that his country is committed to the diplomatic track to find a solution, noting the Iranian government’s tireless efforts to revive the nuclear deal and reach a good agreement, but the United States didn’t abide by its obligations.

He pointed out that Iran is against the procession of nuclear weapons, but some countries in the region, particularly the Zionist entity, are trying to increase its nuclear arsenal under the cover of the United States.
