6 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails continue with their hunger strike

Protesting against the Israeli occupation’s crimes against the Palestinians, 6 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails continued with their open-ended hunger strike although some of them suffer from deteriorating health condition, WAFA News Agency reported on Saturday.

According to the Palestinian Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Commission, prisoner Khalil Awawdeh, who has spent 12 years in prison, has been on hunger strike for 110 days and his life is at risk. Prisoner Raed  Rayan also continued with his hunger strike for the 75 consecutive day although he can’t walk and he continues to refuse receiving any kind of supplements.

The commission also said prisoner Zakaraya Al-Zubeidi, one of the heroes of the “Freedom Tunnel”, a tunnel below Gilboa prison, has also been on a hunger strike for 9 days in solidarity with Awawdeh and Rayan who the occupation refuse to transfer to the hospital in an attempt to pressure them to stop their hunger strike.

The commission added that three other hunger striking prisoners also continue with their empty stomach battle. They are Abdullah Al-Bargouthi, who has been on hunger strike for 9 days, Yacoub Ghawadreh for 18 days and Mohammad Nawara for 5 days.

Three days ago, the commission warned against the deteriorating health condition of 18 Palestinians who are imprisoned at Al-Ramleh prison amid difficult health circumstances.

Palestinians in Ramallah rally in solidarity with Palestinian prisoners in occupation jails

The Palestinian West Bank city of Ramallah on Saturday witnessed a solidarity stand organized by Palestinian national forces to express their support for the Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli occupation jails.

WAFA News Agency reported that participants in the rally raised the Palestinian flag as well as pictures of the Palestinian prisoners who are on hunger strike, particularly Khalil Awawdeh and Raed Rayan.

The participants reiterated the need to support the prisoners, particularly those on hunger strike so that they get their freedom. They called on the international community and human rights institutions to assume their responsibilities and immediately interfere as to save the lives of these prisoners from the criminal acts of the occupation authorities.

The occupation authorities have refused to release the prisoners Awawdeh and Rayan, who are suffering from a dangerous deterioration in their heath condition, despite calls by Palestinian prisoners institutions for the international Red Cross and concerned international bodies to interfere immediately and save the prisoners’ lives.
