Chairman of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin on Saturday said that the West’s attempts to isolate Russia are having the opposite effect.
He summed up the results of yesterday’s St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) and stressed that the event was attended by representatives of a large number of countries.
“Yesterday I took part in the St. Petersburg Economic Forum. Representatives of 127 states arrived, whose inhabitants make up 73% of the world’s population. The West, trying to isolate Russia, isolated itself as a result,” Volodin stressed.
In his Telegram channel, he noted the most important, in his opinion, the proposals of Russian President Vladimir Putin voiced at SPIEF. Among them are preferential mortgages at 7%, mitigation of liability for tax crimes, the launch of a program for the modernization of housing and communal services, the launch of industrial mortgages at 5%, the development of small towns and rural areas, and the refusal to check part of the business.
Volodin said that the State Duma would do everything necessary to ensure that laws for the implementation of these initiatives were adopted as soon as possible. He noted solidarity with Putin’s words that the main thing for Russia is to be independent, sovereign and able to ensure development.
