NUR-SULTAN, Jun.15, (ST)-The delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic, headed by the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Susan, met on Wednesday in the Kazakh capital, Nur-Sultan, the United Nations delegation headed by the Chief of Staff of the Office of the United Nations Secretary-General’s Envoy to Syria and the head of the UN delegation to the Astana meetings, Robert Dunn.
During the meeting, which was held on the sidelines of the 18th round of Astana talks on Syria, the discussion dealt with the developments in Syria and the hostile policies of the Turkish regime towards Syrian territory.
“These policies pose a serious threat to security and stability in the region,” Susan affirmed.
For his part, Dunn referred to the UN stance, which was announced by the spokesperson for its Secretary-General, on the need to respect Syria’s sovereignty and to avoid any actions that would escalate the situation in the region, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
The agency added that the discussion also dealt with the efforts made for the return of Syrian refugees and the ways to deliver humanitarian aid.
