Junior Chamber International in Lattakia Launches “To Nikkal” musical project 

A mixture of eastern and western music was presented by a number of doctors and students of the faculties of Medicine  and Pharmacy at Tishreen University in Lattakia province during the closing ceremony of the launch of “To Nikkal” project at the Dar Al-Assad for Culture in the province.

The participants stressed the importance of musical therapy along with drug therapy in improving the psychological and physical health of people.

“To Nikkal” project, launched by the Junior International Chamber ( JCI) –Lattakia   under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, included several stages starting with field visits to the orphanage taking care center , “Dar Al-Rahmeh ” for the Elderly, and the Thalassemia Center of the National Hospital and presenting musical performances.

The project aims to spread joy and optimism, emphasizing the importance of music as a treatment, as well as its role In psychological balance and highlighting the musical creativity of those who are working in the medical field .

The student Zain Arous of the faculty of Medicine , who participated in playing the oud said “Playing music has been my dream since childhood before medicine.  I consider that music restores human psychological balance, and this in itself is an achievement that the doctor presents to his patient” adding “ The treatment was communicative and personal at the orphanage Taking Care center and “ Dar Al-Rahmeh” for the elderly, and they affected us before we affected them”.

For 15 years, Sahar Makhlouf , who is at the  3rd year of the faculty of pharmacy has been playing the violin,  confirmed that music affects the mind, and many university students   have  creativity achievements in different fields.

The student Lynn Bashour said: “I am good at playing the piano and I have been training to play the piano for 5 years. Music is a safe haven to escape from the stress of life, and I organize my time well between studying and developing my talent in playing.  I consider that playing has become an important part of my personality”.

In turn, president of the JCI –Lattakia Muhammad Rehabi, said in a statement to the Syriatimes e-newspaper that the project focused on the cultural and artistic aspect, to shed light on the civilized, cultural and artistic aspects, as well as to support young talents and provide a platform to display their artistic productions.

Concerning the title of “ To Nikkal”   project , YaraIbrahim, Vice President of the JCI-Lattakia indicated in a statement to the Syriatimes that it stems from the music that was presented to the moon gods in the first era of treatment for infertility after the failure of other drug treatments.

In turn, the project manager, Fatima Ra’ei, said ” There is an important medicine at our disposal at any time, and there are no side effects for all age groups, which is the musical medicine” stressing the importance of the active role of young doctors in translating creativity on the ground with a sublime message such as music.
