Agreement for scientific cooperation between Universities of Al-Baath and Saint Petersburg, Russia

Al-Baath University in Homs has signed today with the administration of St. Petersburg State University a draft scientific cooperation agreement during the visit of the delegation of the Russian Coordinating Body headed by Dr. Rustam Gunavich and the accompanying delegation to the university.

During the visit, the delegation was briefed on the laboratories of reinforced concrete, roads, soil mechanics, hydraulics and irrigation at the College of Civil Engineering to work on linking the two universities with joint scientific research that contributes to reconstruction with regard to the properties of building materials and is compatible with the Syrian climate and working on joint scientific research through master’s and doctoral theses under  joint Syrian-Russian supervision.

During their visit, the delegation was briefed on the traditional traditional crafts laboratory at the Faculty of Architecture, which is concerned with protecting traditional folk heritage, linking craftsmen with academic education, and developing and building capacities in higher education on the most important traditional crafts in Syria such as pottery, weaving, embroidery, mosaic, bamboo, soap, sand filling and metal crafts.

The signing of the draft agreement comes on the sidelines of the fourth Syrian-Russian joint meeting to follow up on the international conference on the return of Syrian refugees and displaced persons currently being held in Damascus.
