Miqdad: US ignores UN when its Interest Requires Attacking Sovereign States

DAMASCUS,(ST)_ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Faisal Miqdad  considered  that risks imposed on  Syria of escalation and threat of aggression by the  US and its allies in  Western and  regional countries , especially Turkey and Saudi Arabia are the result of  Syria ‘s adherence to its dignity , sovereignty ,independence and commitment to its people.

During  his meeting with the delegation representing  the Syrian community in Italy , including  Italian economic, religious and political activists yesterday , Miqdad added  that the purpose behind this aggression ,is the  destruction of Syria and shedding the blood of its people , to  cover up the crimes of armed terrorist groups and al Qaeda and encourage them to commit more terrorist crimes against the Syrian people .

Miqdad  continued that statements issued on Friday by US and European politicians demonstrated the size of the plot hatched against Syria and the evil  intentions against the  civilization achievements of its  people, noting  that the attempt to accuse the Syrian government of using chemical  gas is but  a pretext for aggression against Syria and its people in  the service of terrorist  and takfiri organizations especially al-Qaeda and “al-Nusra Front”.

Miqdad explained that  Syria has  fully cooperated with the UN  Mission to investigate the use of chemical weapons and that the  UN Secretariat praised Syria’s full cooperation with the mission , stressing that Syria did  not and will not use chemical gases , if  any ,

He thanked the delegation for its solidarity and support for the motherland  Syria, pointing to the depth of historical relations between the Syrian and Italian peoples .

Members  of the delegation expressed their full solidarity with Syria’s leadership and people in light of the threat of aggression and continuous attempts to destroy and kill the Syrian people.

Former Italian Senator Fernando Rossi said the visit is but a sincere expression of the Italian people ‘s support for the Syrian people under these difficult circumstances experienced by Syria , stressing that any European position that supports the US  aggression on Syria is a service to Israel , wishing Syria to achieve victory  over its enemies.

Italian artist Jovalesa stressed  that the delegation maintains  solidarity with the Syrian people, who have been withstanding  a scheme aimed at destroying Syria , stressing confidence that the Syrians will continue their steadfastness to thwart this scheme.

President of the ” European front in solidarity with Syria Giovanni Faleguela  said that the  Front  is composed of   a group of young European volunteers will work to support the Syrians in confronting the Western and US aggression  against Syria and its people , stressing that their commitment to supporting  Syria and its people stems from their deep  awareness on the  need that Syria to remain  an example  in maintaining sovereignty, independence and steadfastness.

Head of the Syrian community in Italy Dr Jamal Abu Abbas   said that the legendary  steadfastness experienced by  Syria’s leadership and people during the crisis is a proof that “we are on the right track  in  confronting  the  aggression and conspiracy aiming to destroy our country and kill our people” , stressing on behalf of the delegation , the  Syrian community stand  with the Syrian people by all means to face this aggression .

In a statement to reporters following his  meeting with the Italian delegation Mikdad stressed that many  world countries began to realize the reality of the  American aggressive schemes  and that Washington does not care about the UN  when its interests  and those of Israel  require  attacking  sovereign and independent states.

Miqdad added that  values expressed by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry in his remarks on  Friday did  not reflect the  American and European values , pointing out that Kerry , together with  a number of U.S. officials are talking   as if their countries   did not play any role in the killing of Arabs and support of  Israel with  all chemical, nuclear and biological  weapons of mass destruction, though  they know very well that  the Israeli arsenal is even worse than  any dirty arsenal in the world

” Kerry ignored in his  statement, his country’s  devastating role in Afghanistan , Iraq and Libya and the killing of hundreds of thousands of people of these countries “, Miqdad added.

 He indicated that Syria has fully cooperated with the UN investigation team on  the use of chemical weapons in a timely manner ,  adding ” but that the  US Secretary of state ignores  or forgets the truth in the context of his Machiavelli thinking   to justify the aggression ” , warning that using the UN  to launch attacks on Syria is a grave  threat to the international system .

He reiterated  that any U.S. aggression on Syria will not be a picnic , and  that Syria is steadfast and will address any aggression emerge victorious as before , expressing  Syria ‘s appreciation for solidarity positions with her steadfastness by a lot of people in the world.
