President Al-Assad Congratulates Ahmadinejad on Iranian Revolution Victory Anniversary
DAMASCUS, (ST) – President Bashar al-Assad cabled his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Ahmadinejad congratulating him on the 34th anniversary of the victory of the Iranian Revolution.
On behalf of the Syrian people and on his own behalf, President Al-Assad expressed his best wishes to the Iranian President and the friendly people of Iran.
Celebrating this occasion, the Iranian Embassy in Damascus held a reception ceremony attended by senior Syrian officials including Speaker of the People’s Assembly Mohammad Jihad al-Lahham, Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi and his two deputies in addition to some ministers, general secretaries of the National Progressive Front parties and a number of Baath party regional leadership members.
Al- Mikdad: Iranian Revolution was a turning point in the history of the region
Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Faisal al-Mikdad said “the Syrian people everywhere share with the friendly people of Iran their celebration on the revolution’s victory anniversary,” stressing that the Iranian revolution has been a great event not only in the Middle East, but in the entire world.
Al-Mikdad, who hailed the achievements of the Iranian revolution, said the revolution was a turning point in the history of the region and has been a main supporter for just Arab causes.
He commended the strategic relations between Syria and Iran, stressing that “Syria will continue to be Iran’s honest friend and brother in the confrontation of the challenges facing the Islamic republic.”
“Alliance between the two countries will continue,” al-Mikdad added, affirming that Syria will keep steadfast in confrontation of the foreign-backed aggression and that the proposed political program embodies the leadership’s aspirations to attain a peaceful settlement of the crisis in Syria based on dialogue and national reconciliation.
Grand Mufti: West prevents Syria and Iran from possessing technology because of their resisting stances
For his part, the Grand Mufti of the Syrian Republic Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun commended the Iranian revolution’s ability to attain great achievements despite the great Western pressure Iran is being exposed to.
He pointed out that the West has been attempting to prevent Iran and Syria from possession technology because they didn’t surrender to the American and western dictates.
He thanked Iran for its support to Syria’s in confrontation of the crisis caused by the foreign-backed armed terrorist groups.
Iranian Ambassador: Halting violence, stopping arming and financing terrorists and dialogue are the way to solve crisis
The Iranian Ambassador to Syria Mohammad Riza Shebani said that the scientific development, Iran has been witnessing under the revolution leadership, has strengthened the Islamic republic and made it a very effective power that can’t be ignored in any international equation.
He stressed that People’s determination and adherence to national principles is the way to win victory over any kind of conspiracy.
“The ongoing events in Syria are a Western attempt to undermine resistance forces in the region,” he said, stressing that solving the crisis in Syria can only be attained through halting violence, stopping the arming and financing of terrorists and through sitting to the national dialogue table,” the Iranian Ambassador concluded.
