Syria will Remain Steadfast – Lahoud

BEIRUT, (ST)_ ” Syria will not fall for it is the only Arab country that stands  against the  Israeli entity and because the Arab people stand beside her and reject Israel’s control of the region,” said  former Lebanese President Emile Lahoud .

In an interview with al-Mayadeen TV on Friday evening Lahoud said that Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, placed all their weight to overthrow the regime in Syria at the beginning of the crisis, but Saudi Arabia began to decline while Qatar and Turkey to think of their internal conditions.

Lahoud explained  that Israel is the sole beneficiary of what is happening in Syria now, noting that the Israeli aggression against scientific research center  in Jamraya in Rural Damascus aimed at raising the morale of the armed terrorist groups after failing to achieve set objectives as well as to raise the morale of the opposition forces which support these terrorist groups.

“Syria would retaliate the Israeli aggression in the appropriate time and manner.” Lahoud continued.

Lahoud stressed that the series of attacks against the Lebanese army aimed at undermining the morale of its members, expressing his concern over the situation in Lebanon because the end in Syria means the beginning in Lebanon pushed by Saudi Arabia and all those who move under the Israeli orders.

Lahoud noted that the policy of self-distancing would be useless when extremists come down to public squares.  He called for siding with Syria and her people, the same as Syria stood with Lebanon and the Lebanese resistance during  all crises.
