President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Saturday that democracy could not be established through gun, war or massacre.
“When western enemies and some of their supporters in the region, who are aliens to democracy, are seen speaking about democracy in Syria, the falsehood of their claims becomes evident to all,” said President Ahmadinejad in a meeting with the new Syrian ambassador to Tehran, according to IRNA.
He said, “Undoubtedly, victory belongs to nations and a worse future waits for enemies of nations no matter how difficult conditions are. By the grace of God, both Iranian and Syrian nations along with all other independent and freedom loving nations in the world would attain dignity and true prosperity.”
He added that experience has shown that western enemies are merely after their own goals and those following them today should know that not a good destiny awaits them.
Ahmdinejad stressed the need for efforts to restore security and calm to Syria.
The Syrian ambassador,Adnan Mahmoud, submitting his credentials to Ahmadinejad, said the domineering powers and their allies, which today have brought the Syrian nation under their economic, political and cultural attacks, are in fact trying to harm the camp of resistance and anti-Zionism camp.
The awareness and resistance of the Syrian people to the plots of the US and other enemies have failed their various plots over the past 20 months and the Syrian nation by the grace of God would overcome all hardships successfully, said Abdul Kareem.
He also stressed expansion of Iran-Syria cooperation in various sectors, especially in the economic domain, saying that Tehran and Damascus enjoy scientific, cultural and economic potentials and they can use them in line with interests of the two nations and countries.
