Syria tie Iraq 1-1

In their opener in the 2012 West Asia Football Tournament,the men’s national football team drew with their Iraqi counterparts 1-1 at the Friendship and Peace Stadium in Kuwait on Thursday.

Forward Ibrahim put the Iraqi side in the lead in the 11^th minute while Ahmad Doni notched up the equalizer for the Syrian side in the 48^th minute with a close-range shot.

Syria are in Group c alongside with Iraq and Jordan.

Iraq top the group with four points from two matches.

Iraq beat Jordan 1-0 in the opening match of the group.

Syria will take on Jordan on December 16 at the Frienship and Peace Stadium.
