In their opener in the 2012 West Asia Football Tournament,the men’s national football team drew with their Iraqi counterparts 1-1 at the Friendship and Peace Stadium in Kuwait on Thursday.
Forward Ibrahim put the Iraqi side in the lead in the 11th minute while Ahmad Doni notched up the equalizer for the Syrian side in the 48th minute with a close-range shot.
Syria are in Group c alongside with Iraq and Jordan.
Iraq top the group with four points from two matches.
Iraq beat Jordan 1-0 in the opening match of the group.
Syria will take on Jordan on December 16 at the Frienship and Peace Stadium.
