Gatilov: Opposition’s Western Sponsors Violate Geneva Agreements

MOSCOW, (ST)_ Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Gennady Gatilov, reiterated that ”Syrian opposition’s Western sponsors violate Geneva agreements when trying to impose from outside a list of future leadership of the country.”

Gatilov published Friday on his twitter page that the Geneva Communiqué says: “…transitional governing body … shall be formed on the basis of mutual consent”.

Gatilov’s statements are meant, according to different analyses, to voice disapproval and dismay as a direct Russian response to the ongoing US-led bids to form a new opposition group and leadership to replace the so-called Istanbul Council opposition.
