Dream ending for David Beckham at Los Angeles Galaxy

David Beckham was basking in the glory of ending his six-year stint in the United States with back-to-back MLS titles after helping the Los Angeles Galaxy defeat Houston 3-1 in the final.

“It’s a dream ending,” the former England captain told Sky Sports News.

“I didn’t want to speak about it before the game because I didn’t want to jinx it. But it doesn’t get much better than this.

“My last year at Manchester United I won the championship, my last year at Real Madrid I won the championship and my last year playing with the Galaxy I won the championship.

“It’s emotional. I have got my family here, my friends here, people that have worked with me for the last six years over here, the backroom staff at the Galaxy, the fans – everyone involved at this club has been exceptional. Today is a great day.”

Beckham has no plans to retire from playing just yet and is looking for one final challenge in his career.

He said: “I’ll be alright for a while more and I will continue to play. I am going to get some rest over Christmas and decide where I am going to go and what I am going to do.”

There have also been suggestions the 37-year-old could return to the MLS as a franchise owner in the future.

He said: “There is a chance of me being involved in the MLS going forward. We will see where I will be.”
