Syrian Arab army flushes thugs out of two areas in Lattakia, confiscates ATGMs and walkie-talkies outside Damascus

PROVINCES,(ST)_The number of areas cleansed of foreign-backed terrorists outside Lattakia province has raisin up to 9 in less than a week, as units of the armed forces press ahead in Damascus countryside.

On Friday, media reports confirmed that Abo Makke and Beit alShkohi towns in northern Lattakia countryside became under the armed forces’ control in the wake of  a qualitative operation. 

This achievement raised the number of the safe areas to 9 as stability and security restored few days ago to towns of Obin, Kherbet alBaz, Esterbeh, Blata, Eramo, al-Qle’a and Prophet Isaiah Mountain.

A military source told SANA that the armed forces are still hunting down thugs in Lattakia countryside and have eliminated many  in Kansba area.

al-Qarieh al-Shameyeh under army’s control

Another achievement was also scored today by the armed forces in Damascus countryside through imposing control over al-Qarieh al-Shameyeh in  Eastern Ghouta.

The death toll of thugs in the two provinces is unknown, but it is described by a military source as ‘big’.

The source noted that an army unit seized anti-tank guided missiles (ATGM) and walkie- talkies hidden inside a truck at a checkpoint in al-Qalamon area, around 14km to the north of Damascus.

Several hideouts wiped out

On the other hand, the armed forces carried out a series of operations in areas of Barzeh, Jobar, Erbin, Adra al-Balad, al-Rihan, Doma, Harasta, al-Bahareyeh, Der Salman, al-Dyabeyeh, al-Hseneyeh, Hajjira, and al-Tal.

They obliterated several hideouts of al-Nusra Front-affiliates and killed a lot of them in the said areas.

Other hideouts of terrorists from al-Nusra Front were wiped out in Hama province, precisely in al-Ghab area, where many terrorists reportedly perished.

A military source told SANA that various types of weapons and ammunitions were seized inside a hideout in Sher al-Jamajmeh area outside Hama.

Moreover, the armed forces inflicted big losses upon terrorists operating in Daraa, Aleppo, Idlib and Homs provinces through targeting their hideouts and groupings and killing many of them.

Terrorists of foreign nationalities were among the dead, according to SANA.

Shells wound 2 citizens in Damascus

In a separate incident, two citizens were wounded when mortar shells landed on Bab Sharqi and al-Dwel’a areas in the capital [Damascus].

The shells caused damages to cars at the scene.
