HAMA, (ST) – Head of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Agriculture, Mohamad Kashto, underlined that there is a plan to provide all facilities to the farmers to export their crop of pistachio during the season in order to prevent smuggling and to give identity to this Syrian product that is ranked first in the world in terms of taste, flavor and shape.
During a meeting in the presence of the head and members of Hama Chamber of Agriculture, Mr. Kashto called for the exporters to obtain a certificate of origin from the Chambers of Agriculture and the endorsement of the office of pistachio calling to take the necessary measures to ensure the successful harvest and marketing of the crop of the season for the current agricultural and to be exported externally within international standards.
For his part, Head of Hama Chamber of Agriculture, Khaled Mari’, predicted the production of the governorate of pistachios to reach about 30 thousand tons, pointing out that the Chamber of Agriculture of Hama was the first to add a private label the geographical origin of the pistachio among the governorates in order to inform the world that the product is of Syrian origin.
It is noteworthy that the quantities of exported pistachios from Hama during last season amounted to 1,200 tons of core fruitsof pistachios and 1836 tons of pistachio with the shell to several Arab and European countries, amounting to 1.9 billion Syrian pounds.
