TEHRAN – A prominent Lebanese politician underlined that the plot hatched by the western states and certain Arab regional countries to topple the Syrian government is doomed to failure.
“Hoping for the overthrow of the Syrian government is useless and approval of international resolutions and regional conspiracies or any other means will not topple the Syrian government,” Head of Lebanon’s al-Tauhid Party Waam Wahhab said in a press conference in Beirut on Monday, according to FNA.
He further warned that the Arab countries and the Gulf states which have plotted to overthrow the Syrian government will themselves be toppled first.
“The plot to overthrow the Syrian government is doomed to failure,” Wahhab reiterated.
Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011 with organized attacks by well-armed gangs and foreign-backed militants against the Syrian army and civilians being reported across the country.
Tens of thousands of people have been killed since terrorist and armed groups turned protest rallies into armed clashes.
The government blames outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups for the deaths, stressing that the unrest is being orchestrated from abroad.
