TEHRAN, (ST) -Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi stressed that through the Syrian people are facing a fierce war targeting their steadfastness, “they resist under an elected wise leadership” , in defense of their independence freedom, dignity and the axis of resistance in the region and the Palestinian cause.
In a speech yesterday at the Iranian Foreign Ministry , Salehi indicated that Western support for armed terrorist groups and cannibal in Syria confirms credibility of Iran’s policy towards the current war against Syria.
“We have said since the beginning of the crisis in Syria and the war against the Syrian people that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad will remain in power until the end of his term to our full knowledge of things more than others, ” the Iranian Minister said .
Salehi continued, “If President Assad himself nominates himself for the presidential elections in 2014, I am confident he will win in the elections, thanks for the big love the Syrians have to him”, Salehi continued.
Salehi pointed his country ‘s exposure to fierce regional and international criticism as well as by “some naive” inside the country because of its position on the situation in Syria noting that , “the world is watching today propriety of our positions, concerning the situation in the region and the world as demonstrating the proper approach pursued by Iran regionally and internationally.”
Concerning the nuclear negotiations between Iran and the countries of the “5 plus 1″ Salehi expressed optimism on the future of the negotiations,” adding that Tehran pulled the rug from under the feet of the American and Western flimsy arguments about its peaceful nuclear activities, especially after declaring its willingness to internationally document the Fatwa of the Supreme Leader Khamenei of the sanctity of production and use of nuclear weapons. “
On the situation of Egypt , Salehi pointed grave concern over the current situation in Egypt, hoping that the Egyptians will solve the crisis in their country through dialogue and understanding , adding , “We are still in touch with all Egyptian political parties and had also contacts after the recent developments with the Foreign Minister and Egypt Interim Vice-President Mohamed El-Baradei, and we are concerned only with the internal situation in Egypt to that mobilization in the Street will not result in clashes between the people because this is not in the interest of Egypt and the region. “
Salehi expressed his country’s rejection to intervene in the internal affairs of other countries and expressed hope that the Egyptians will solve their problems through dialogue and internal understanding .
