Al-Halqi to Larijani, Jahangiri: Syria Insists on Attaining Political Solution to Crisis

TEHRAN – Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi underlined Syria’s insistence to attain a political settlement to the ongoing crisis in the country.

The premier made the remarks in a meeting with Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani in Tehran on Tuesday.

He stressed that the Syrian people and army have stood up to enemies’ plots and the inhuman behavior of the terrorist groups for more than two years now, and stressed that Syria is resolved to continue the fight against terrorist groups in parallel with keen government efforts to confront the economic war against the country’s national economy and Syrian Pound.  

For his part, Larijani reiterated that the Syrian crisis should be resolved through peaceful means and a Syrian national dialogue.

“The global war facing Syria won’t succeed thanks to the determination of the Syrian people to defeat the enemies and rebuild a new unified Syria,” Larijani said, stressing the Iranian people’s support for the Syrians in the face of the crisis through providing them with all forms of economic and commercial support.

He strongly condemned the terrorist acts perpetrated by the armed groups aiming to destabilize Syria, hoping that the conspiracy will fail soon and the deeply-rooted Syrian people will attain victory.

Al-Halqi’s talks with Larijani dealt also with cooperation in the economic, trade and industrial fields, establishing real partnership between the businessmen and companies of the two countries, ensuring oil derivates as well as food and medical stuff in the Syrian markets and reactivating signed agreements.

Enhancing bilateral relations between Syria and Iran was also the focus of another meeting between Premier al-Halqi and Iran’s First Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri, who affirmed Iran’s solidarity with and support for Syria in the face of the economic war.

Al-Halqi expressed the Syrian government’s desire to push economic cooperation forward through signing new agreements that help achieving comprehensive economic development in Syria.
