Tehran (ST): Mohammad Sadeq Muftah, Deputy Minister of Industry, Trade and Minerals of Iran, underlined the importance of holding a forum on “Developing Syrian-Iranian Economic and Trade Relations” in Tehran, with the participation of the Syrian and Iranian private sector and Syrian and Iranian economic activists.
Sadeq Moftah said during his meeting with the delegation of Syrian businessmen participating in the forum that this forum will open new horizons of joint cooperation between the two sides, stressing the willingness of the Iranian side to cooperate with the Syrian side in various fields of trade, industry, agriculture, transportation, banking transactions and joint investments.
For his part, the Syrian ambassador in Tehran, Dr. Shafiq Dayyoub, confirmed that the presence of the Syrian delegation in Tehran, which includes a large number of businessmen and investors from the private sector in various commercial, industrial, agricultural, productive and other sectors, indicates the desire to reach practical results on the ground that meet the requirements of the current stage witnessed in the region and the world.
On the sidelines of the forum, Director General of the General Organization for Free Zones, Iyad Al-Koussa, discussed with his Iranian counterpart, Dr. Saeed Muhammad, ways to benefit from the experiences of the free zones work in the two countries and to attract Iranian investments to work in the free zones, whether in the commercial or industrial fields.
The Iranian side put forward the preparation of a draft memorandum of understanding in the field of free zone work, which will be studied by the Syrian side in preparation for signing it during the meeting of the Syrian-Iranian Higher Economic Committee.
