First ship leaves port after liberation of Mariupol

A Slavutich-type ship left the port of Mariupol with a cargo of metal, Russia’s Southern Military District press office told TASS Tuesday.

It has become the first ever ship to depart the port after the fighting in Mariupol ended.

The ship, loaded with metal, exited the port, escorted by Black Sea Fleet artillery and anti-sabotage patrol boats, the press office said, adding that the ship will deliver its cargo to Rostov-on-Don.

The first ship entered the liberated port of Mariupol on May 27. Earlier, the port representative told TASS that the port is open and ready to accept ships.
