Syria, Iran discuss enhancing industrial and economic cooperation to face sanctions

Ways of enhancing the Syrian-Iranian industrial and economic cooperation were discussed on Friday between Syria’s Industry Minister Ziad Sabbagh and Adviser to the Iranian first vice President, Iran’s Economic Representative in Damascus Abbas Akbari.

During a meeting in Aleppo, the two sides agreed on specifying common points in the industrial sectors of both countries with the aim of discussing carrying out joint projects with economic feasibility.

Sabbagh affirmed that economic ties between Syria and Iran are strong, reiterating that continuous coordination is very important to achieve victory in the economic battle against the unfair sanctions imposed by the US and western states on the countries of the axes of resistance.

He said that many companies have been vandalized and destroyed in Syria due to terrorism. These companies have been proposed for investment, he added, noting the possibility of establishing partnership with the Iranian side to rehabilitate these companies and help them resume production.

On his part, Akbari stressed his country’s support for Syria in the confrontation of the economic war imposed on it, affirming that the relations between the two countries are deep-rooted.

 He pointed out that despite the sanctions Iran has achieved qualitative steps in the domain of technological industries through adopting the principle of self-reliance in the field of manufacturing.

Akbari noted the joint efforts being exerted by Syria and Iran to confront the economic sanctions targeting the two countries.
