ACSAD holds training course on proper management of salt-affected soils

A virtual training course on the proper management of salt-affected soils was opened on Tuesday at the headquarters of the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD) in Damascus with the participation of 52 researchers representing the universities and agriculture ministries of Syria and several Arab countries.

The two-day course will discuss scientific topics, including the results of recent research works in the field of using modern methods and technologies to manage salt-affected soils, in addition to ways of dealing with soil salinity and increasing the productivity of salinized soils.

ACSAD’s Director General Nasruddin Al-Obeid stressed the need for joint action to limit the expansion of the salt-affected agricultural soils, organize their uses, avoid their deterioration and improve their productive qualities in order to increase the efficiency and sustainability of their productivity.
