TEHRAN- Iran’s President Hassan Rohani has stressed that what is going on in Syria is a failed attempt aiming to undermine the axis of resistance which confronts the Zio-American schemes which support terrorism and takfiri thinking to destabilize the region.
Rohani remarks came during his meeting on Sunday with Syria’s Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi who is currently visiting Tehran to attend President Rohani’s Constitutional Oath Ceremony and convey a message from President Bashar Al-Assad to the new Iranian President.
The message dealt with boosting bilateral ties and cooperation in the confrontation of Western and American schemes against the region.
Rohani expressed regret over prolonging the conflict in Syria and expressed hope that a lasting peace and security would be restored to Syria as soon as possible
The Iranian President reiterated Tehran’s support for the people and government of Syria, stressing that Iran has always condemned the presence of terrorist groups there and rejected foreign interference in the internal affairs of the country.
Rohani also voiced support for Syria’s reform efforts and steps to attain a peaceful settlement to the crisis based on the implementation of the proposed political program to solve the crisis in Syria.
President Rohani expressed hope that Tehran-Damascus ties would be further promoted in future, stressing that no force in the world can undermine the deeply-rooted, historical and strategic relations between Syria and Iran.
Rohani condemned foreign interference in Syria’s internal affairs and reiterated that the Syrian-Iranian cooperation is based on solid grounds and it aims at preserving the stability of the region, supporting just causes and attaining comprehensive development in both countries.

The Iranian President strongly condemned the criminal acts perpetrated by the foreign and regional-backed armed terrorist groups against the Syrian state and people. However, he expressed confidence in Syria’s victory thanks to the steadfastness and determination of its honest people to confront the challenges.
Rohani is to take oath at the Iranian Parliament this afternoon.
For his part, Premier al-Halqi said that Iran’s recent presidential elections have proved that Iran is a democratic country heading towards progress.
He highly appreciated the Iranian support to Syria against the global war it is facing, particularly in the economic field, in addition to boosting the capabilities of the Syrian economy.
He stressed that the Syrian people will never forget the support of their real friends.
Al-Halqi stressed the Syrian people’s determination to go ahead in the face of the global war they are encountering, reiterating their ability to overcome all challenges thanks to their national unity and the sacrifices of the Syrian Army.
He stressed the great efforts exerted by the Syrian government to defy the economic war which has negatively affected the livelihood of the Syrian citizens.
The Premier wished President Rohani success with his government to meet the aspirations of the friendly people of Iran.
