Al-Miqdad receives telephone call from Abdollahian

DAMASCUS, May.24, (ST)- The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Miqdad received on Tuesday a telephone call from his Iranian counterpart Hussein Amir Abdollahian. 
 
The telephone conversation dealt with a number of issues of mutual concern and the recent developments in the region, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA). 
 
The agency clarified that the two ministers reviewed the ways of enhancing mutual cooperation between Syria and Iran, and the need to continue coordination and regular consultation regarding developments in the region and the world.
 
Al-Miqdad expressed satisfaction over the development of relations between the two countries and the importance of pushing them forwards in the political, economic and scientific fields, stressing Syria’s appreciation for Iran’s continuous support to it.
 
For his part, Abdollahian described the relations between Syria and Iran as “deep- rooted and strategic”, affirming his country’s support for Syria and its people and Iran’s determination to provide necessary assistance to Syria to overcome the negative impacts of the Western coercive measures being imposed on the country.
 
He underlined that Syria and Iran are standing in one trench in the face of Western plans that aim to undermine the security and stability of the region. 
 
In addition, the two minister talked about the  climatic conditions that dominate the region and cause sand storms in a number of its countries, including eastern Syria, Iraq, Iran and the Gulf region, and have disrupted life and public facilities in some of these countries. 
 
They stressed the importance of continuing coordination and consultation to discuss the ways of dealing with these conditions and to take the necessary measures to confront them.
