The Syria Trust for Development carries out a campaign to plow the fire-affected areas in Lattakia

For the fourth week in a row, the Syria Trust for Development  is carrying  out a campaign  to plow the fire-affected areas in Lattakia countryside.

The campaign has recently completed  the plowing of 24,000 dunums out of 42,000 of fire-affected lands in Al-Fakhoura district . The campaign  was accompanied by positive interaction with  the residents , who at the same time invested their lands by planting seasonal vegetables that helped them to be self-sufficient and improve their livelihoods.

Director of  Al-Fakhoura Manara  Natalie Farah indicated in a statement to SANA  that the campaign was carried out in full cooperation and coordination with the heads of agricultural associations, village mayors, coordinators of  the Syrian Trust for Development , Lattakia’s Governorate and agriculture directorate there.

 

She added that the campaign included   three stages  :  the first one covered the  lands that can be cultivated with seasonal vegetables,   the second stage covered planting lands  with citrus and olives, while the third one  included  cleaning the neglected lands  from  weeds as well as helping  their owners to cultivate  and protecting them from  the danger of fires .

The Director of Agriculture in Lattakia, Eng. BassemDouba, explained that  Al-Fakhoura district was one of the most fire-affected areas in the year 2020, indicating the Syria Trust for Development’s campaign  includes plowing agricultural lands in 25 villages belonging to Al-Fakhoura district.

Governor of Lattakia, Engineer Amer Ismail Hilal  confirmed the governorate’s keenness on providing  all requirements to  follow up  the completion of the campaign that helps farmers to work again, cultivate their lands and improve their livelihoods.
