Nasrallah: Since 1982 events have validated resistance options in Lebanon, Syria and the region

Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah confirmed in a televised speech broadcast by Al-Manar TV yesterdsy, that events since 1982 have validated resistance options in Lebanon, Syria and the region. He said, “our political choices have always been right and have triumphed since 1982 until to today, and it is Syria that has stood with us diligently, supported, fought and provided martyrs,” calling for the restoration of normal relations with Syria as soon as possible.

Sayyed Nasrallah clarified that the Nakba of May 15 was not only the Palestine Nakba; it was the Nakba of all Arabs. It is an incident whose calamities and pains do not end. The  Palestinian people have made their choice by resisting, and today’s belief in this option is stronger than ever.

With regard to Lebanon’s internal affairs, Sayyed Nasrallah said, “We are faced with tremendous, shocking and serious challenges, particularly the economic and living crisis and the crisis of bread, medicine and electricity, which require us to seek a just and capable State whose authority is genuine and courageous to advance the national interest over all other interests.” He called for openness up East and West and not submitting to American dictates to prevent the country’s collapse and explosion.

Sayyed Nasrallah called on the Lebanese political forces to work seriously to extract oil and gas from regional waters, stressing that oil extraction is the key hope for getting out of the economic crisis, rather than  begging and World Bank loans.
